Introduction of this Blog
This blog is an avenue for leaders and managers to share their nuggets of wisdom amongst each other in order to obtain other's perspectives. Here you will find a compilation of all of my knowledge in leadership. I will regularly post new topics for people to comment on as a form of a discussion board for all points. Please do not judge others, as I'm sure they get enough of that at work.

ReplyDeleteThe number one thing in my opinion as a manager (Once was a high level manager), supervisor, or a leader, for that matter all the levels mentioned, is to recognize all that work with you. In addition as my opinion as mentioned several times in my career, is that you have individuals assigned to you that you must supervise, but those same individuals ultimately work with you. Regardless of how small or large an assignment is accomplished successfully it must be rewarded. That reward can be as simple as a pat on the back, a letter that is placed in personnel folders, or monetary. The simplest way to continue complete successful tasks is to address each individual of their accomplishments. That reorganization must include all involved. Each person involved had rolls and duties to share. While progress is being made there must be status provided for any changes and problems encountered during the task. It is a very good idea to establish progress points to notify individuals that are indirectly associated with the tasks. Identifying special achievements should be documented and communicated to upper management including performance factors of the individuals accomplishing the task. Open and honest praising is paramount. Taking pride in your workforce must be acknowledged. Show and tell always works. Identify what was accomplished and by who. As the assignment progresses so should the recognitions. Don’t wait until the end, praising increases progress. If you wait until the end two things will happen, time tends to indicate forgetfulness and most of the time it just doesn’t mean as much. You need to share and be willing to take the time to recognize individuals. Remember that they are the ones that work with you. Your silence will only hurt you in the end. There is nothing wrong standing in-front of your team and saying Thank You at the minimum. You can only gain respect and honor when you do so. You will gain if you treat them well. It is only human to hear and see what others do for you and what you can do for them.
